Demolition work has begun on the building that housed the historic "Alisida" factory in Thessaloniki. The factory, located at the intersection of Papanastasiou and Al. Stavrou streets, was a landmark for the Charilaou area.

The "Alisida" factory began operating in 1934 and initially produced rubber shoes. Later, it was acquired by EL.VI.ELA. and turned to the production of sports shoes. In the 1990s, the factory ceased operations and the building was used as an entertainment venue, hosting nightclubs.

According to reports, the plot, owned by Eurobank, will be used for the construction of an office building with an environmental focus. Demolition work is expected to last two to three days, and traffic regulations are in place at the site.

In recent years, residents of the area have complained about the condition of the plot, which had become a source of pollution and a shelter for delinquents and the homeless.
