Coast Guard: Rescue Operations in Chios and Achaia

The Coast Guard is on alert and participating in the evacuation of citizens in the areas of Chios and Achaia, due to the ongoing fires.

In Achaia, Coast Guard vessels, coordinated by KEPICH, are operating from Kaminia to Vrachnaiika Patras. They have rescued nine people, who were safely transported to the southern port of Patras. In addition, three vessels are on standby.

In Chios, a large-scale operation is underway to evacuate citizens from the beaches of "Limnia" and "Agia Markella" in Volissos, coordinated by EKSED. Seven Coast Guard vessels are participating, as well as private vessels. So far, 56 people have been rescued and transported to Lithi and Lagada.
