Magnesia: 67-Year-Old in Hospital After House Fire

A 67-year-old woman was hospitalized after a fire broke out in her house in Nea Ionia, Magnesia, on New Year's Day. The fire started around 8:10 am when the woman tried to light a leaking oil stove.

According to taxydromos.gr, the fire quickly spread to the kitchen and bedroom. The woman, in a state of shock, was rescued by her neighbor, who notified the Fire Department and guided her out of the burning house.

Ten firefighters with three vehicles took two hours to extinguish the fire. The house suffered severe damage, with restoration costs estimated at 13,000 euros. The 67-year-old was taken to Volos General Hospital for medical care. The social services of the Municipality of Volos are cooperating to accommodate the woman.
