August Exodus: Traffic Jams in Piraeus as Holidaymakers Depart
Share on:

The August holiday exodus is in full swing, with increased traffic at ports and on roads. Traffic jams are reported from the Peace and Friendship Stadium to the port of Piraeus, while ships are departing at nearly 100% capacity.

From the port of Piraeus, 36,421 passengers boarded ships destined for the islands of the North and East Aegean, the Cyclades, Crete, and the Dodecanese. An additional 10,710 passengers chose the Saronic Gulf.

From Lavrio, 4,519 passengers departed for the Cyclades, while from Rafina, 9,730 passengers traveled to the Cyclades and Marmari. Extra KTEL bus routes covered the increased demand.

The issue that caused a midnight confusion in Chalkida, due to the Evripos bridge getting stuck, is expected to be resolved shortly after 10 AM.
