The Ministry of Shipping has informed the Prosecutor regarding the omissions of the ferry boat company whose vessel ran aground near Nea Styra on Tuesday. According to the ministry, the company delayed taking the necessary actions for the vessel's detachment and salvage.

In its announcement, the Ministry of Shipping emphasizes that 14 hours have passed since the incident, but the ferry boat company has not assigned a specialized company to prepare and submit a detachment and salvage plan. This raises serious concerns for the safety of citizens' property and the protection of the marine environment.

Furthermore, the ministry reminds of the delay in informing the authorities by the ship's captain, who has been detained and is expected to be led to the investigator. The Ministry of Shipping emphasized that it informed the competent Prosecutor about the failure of the ship-owning company to respond to the prescribed actions.
