Nea Styra: Surveyor Denies Captain's Claim of Ferry Boat Rudder Failure

The surveyor who examined the rudders of the ferry boat "Panagia Paravouniotissa," which ran aground in Nea Styra, Evia, found no problem. This contradicts the claims of the 62-year-old captain, who remains in custody.

The captain allegedly claimed that he could not avoid the shoal due to a rudder malfunction.

The Port Authority has submitted the completed Ferry Boat Salvage Plan, and the relevant services of the Ministry of Shipping began the process of detaching the ship after 18:00.

Divers found a crack of almost 20 meters in the ferry boat. The ship was carrying 105 passengers and 9 crew members. The ordeal continues for passengers as their cars remain on the ship.
