Paxos and Ithaca Consider Fee for Day Visitors

The mayors of Paxos and Ithaca are considering imposing a fee on day visitors, following the example of Symi, which has already requested permission for a €3 'ticket'.
The aim is to strengthen services such as waste collection, water supply and monument protection, without increasing municipal fees. The mayor of Paxos, Spyridon Vlachopoulos, stated that he is ready to take a relevant decision, provided that the Ministry of Interior allows it.
For his part, the mayor of Ithaca, Dionysis Stanitsas, said that he will assess this possibility after the end of the summer season. It is noted that Paxos records 240,000 day visitors in the months of July and August, while in Symi this number reaches 300,000.
