Pieria: Mortar Shell Found on Platamonas Beach

A mortar shell was found on the beach of Platamonas, in Pieria, by volunteer firefighters.

According to the Coast Guard, the ordnance, possibly a cylindrical mortar shell approximately 15 cm long, was oxidized and probably did not have a detonator.

The 4th Coast Guard Department of Platamonas of the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki is conducting a preliminary investigation and placed signage in the area. The competent service has also been informed.
