Fire in Kythira: Evacuation Order in Pitsinades Area

A large fire has broken out in agricultural and forest land in the Pitsinades area of Kythira. On July 26, 2025, shortly after 10:30 AM, a message was sent from 112 to residents of the area to evacuate.

28 firefighters with a ground team from the 9th EMODE, six fire trucks, volunteers, one helicopter, and two aircraft were mobilized to extinguish the fire. In addition, seven firefighters from the 6th EMODE departed by ferry from Neapoli, Laconia, to reinforce ground forces.

Residents of the Pitsinades area are urged to evacuate via the central Potamou Livadiou road towards Aroniadika, following the instructions of the authorities.
