Fire in Ancient Olympia: Evacuations of Settlements

A large fire is raging in Helidoni, Ancient Olympia, in Ilia. Authorities have proceeded with the evacuation of five settlements due to the severity of the situation.
A message from 112 alerted residents of the areas of Grammatikos, Latzioi, Agios Georgios Latzioi, Pounari, and Irakleia to evacuate towards Pyrgos. Later, a similar message was sent to residents of Pelopio, Kavkonias, and Platanos, urging them to be on alert.
80 firefighters with 3 ground teams and 25 vehicles are operating in the area, while 6 aircraft and 3 helicopters are assisting from the air. Construction machinery and water trucks from local authorities are also providing support.
According to reports, a man with burns on his hands was transported by ambulance from the area of the Helidoni stadium.
Giorgos Linardos, Deputy Mayor of Civil Protection of Ancient Olympia, stated that the front is very large and constantly threatens 3 to 4 settlements, but the timely change in wind direction prevented the fire from entering Helidoni.
