A rescue operation is underway for a sailboat that issued an SOS signal between Syros and Mykonos. Two French nationals are on board the sailboat, refusing to abandon the vessel and requesting a tugboat.

The sailboat has sustained significant damage, with a broken mast. A tugboat from Mykonos has arrived at the scene, and the Blue Star Delos also provided assistance by sheltering the vessel. A Super Puma helicopter from the Air Force also participated in the operation.

According to a coast guard announcement, the rescue operation is being coordinated by ESKED, in the sea area 3 nautical miles south of Rhenia. Northerly winds of 6-7 Beaufort are blowing in the area.
