Ship Collision in Igoumenitsa Port Due to Cable Breakage

A collision occurred between two passenger-vehicle ferries in the port of Igoumenitsa on Saturday afternoon. The cause of the collision was the breakage of two cables on the left side of one ship, resulting in the stern moving and colliding with the rear of the second ship.
A team from the Coast Guard immediately rushed to the scene and found limited material damage to both ships. By order of the Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa, both ships were prohibited from sailing until the necessary certificates of seaworthiness were submitted.
According to authorities, no injuries were reported and no traces of marine pollution were detected.
