Vandalism at the Kaisariani 200 Memorial

Significant damage has been inflicted on the memorial for the 200 executed at the Kaisariani Shooting Range. According to the Kaisariani municipality official, Kostas Gavrilakis, the vandalism is the most extensive to date.

The vandalism occurred hours after the publication of historical photos from the May 1, 1944 execution. Marble plaques of the memorial have been severely damaged.

Kostas Gavrilakis stated that the municipality will continue to pass on historical memory to new generations. Restoration work is underway, with the monument remaining open to visitors, but the vandalized area is cordoned off.
