48-Hour Taxi Strike in Attica on September 9-10

Taxi drivers in Attica have announced a 48-hour strike for Tuesday, September 9, and Wednesday, September 10. The president of the Attica Taxi Drivers' Union (SATA), Thimios Lymberopoulos, expressed strong objections to the Joint Ministerial Decision (KYA) that allows vans to perform transport services, replacing part of the taxi activity.
Mr. Lymberopoulos accused the ministry of violating the Constitution and lacking controls on companies using vans. He also claimed that tourism is leading to a 'looting' that harms taxi routes.
The president of SATA warned that if the KYA is not withdrawn, they will proceed with an indefinite strike. 'If we don't succeed in getting the KYA back, then the industry cannot survive, it's over,' he emphasized.
