Dendias: Military Corridor with Bulgaria and Romania

The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, met in Sofia with his Bulgarian counterpart, Zapryanov Atanas, and the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Andrey Gurov. The focus of the meeting was the strengthening of defence cooperation between Greece and Bulgaria.

Mr. Dendias stressed the need to create a recognized military corridor with Bulgaria and Romania as soon as possible. Cooperation in the field of defence innovation and the SAFE regulation were also discussed.

Greece has already assisted Bulgaria with the transfer of a Patriot battery and a pair of F-16 fighters near the Greek-Bulgarian border to address potential threats.

Mr. Dendias expressed his belief that the interaction of the Greek and Bulgarian defence innovation systems can offer significant benefits to both countries, as well as to Europe.
