308,605 Inactive Students Removed from Universities

With the start of the new year, 308,605 inactive students have been removed from Greek universities. The first phase of clearing student registers was completed on December 31, under the implementation of Law 4957/2022, as amended by Law 5224/2025.
The Minister of Education, Sofia Zacharaki, stated that the new framework provides exceptions and flexibility for working students or students with health problems. The Deputy Minister of Education, Nikos Papaioannou, emphasized that the clearing is a necessary step to streamline the academic system.
Universities now have the ability to plan their needs more accurately, aiming to upgrade the quality of studies.
