Polls: Citizens Desire Stable Single-Party Government

According to recent polls, the vast majority of citizens want a single-party government and not a coalition government. 45% of respondents favor a single-party government, a percentage considered sufficient to give an absolute majority in an election.
This finding is considered positive for the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and New Democracy (ND). Mr. Mitsotakis is considered the most suitable for the premiership, while ND is considered the only party that provides guarantees of reliable governance.
However, the desire for a single-party government poses a challenge for the government and the ruling party, as they must govern in a way that fulfills the desire of the majority. The government must improve its image in order to seek a mandate in the next elections to continue single-party governance.
This message is also addressed to Kostas Karamanlis and Antonis Samaras, as their interventions are judged not to contribute to stable governance. In addition, the other parties and their leaders must realize that they provide an image of political uncertainty.
The scope of Alexis Tsipras will be defined by his relationship with SYRIZA, while Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is the ultimate recipient of the preference for single-party government and stability. The complete clarification of the issue of ND's governmental cooperation with another party is a decisive factor in limiting protest votes.
