Greece: Efforts to Recover Execution Photos of Nazi Prisoners

The Greek government has initiated procedures to acquire photographs of the execution of 200 imprisoned Communists in Kaisariani on May 1, 1944, by the German occupation army. The photographs were put up for auction on eBay.
Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis stated that the authenticity of the photographs must be ensured through verification by experts from the Ministry of Culture.
The photographs are believed to originate from a German officer's album. Many historians believe the material is genuine, which enhances its importance as a historical document.
