The «Neighborhood Nannies» program is expanding nationwide in Greece from March 2026, offering financial support and flexible childcare to working and unemployed families. The announcement was made by Deputy Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Elena Rapti.

Parents with children aged 2 months to 2.5 years are eligible, provided their annual individual income does not exceed €24,000. The program provides financial assistance:

  • €500 per month for full-time working mothers.
  • €300 per month for part-time working mothers.
  • €300 per month for unemployed mothers (up to three months).

Fathers with sole custody, as well as grandparents, can also participate in the program, provided they meet the criteria. Caregivers can look after up to three children simultaneously.

Requirements for participation include a mandatory education certificate, participation in a free online seminar, medical certificates, and a clean criminal record. The online platform for applications is expected to be activated in March.
