Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Hippocratio General Hospital in Athens on Tuesday, August 26th, accompanied by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, amidst strong criticism regarding the state of the National Healthcare System (ESY).
The visit focused on the renovation of the Emergency Department (TEP), which is expected to be completed in September. The renovated department will be 282 sq.m. larger and will include a modern patient triage area, a resuscitation room, a walk-in clinic, unified examination rooms, a decontamination room, and a small biochemical laboratory.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke with patients and staff, emphasizing that the upgrade of the TEP is funded by the Recovery Fund. The hospital's budget for 2024 amounts to 94 million euros, an increase of 87.9% compared to 2019, while the medical staff has increased by 16%.
In addition, energy upgrade projects are being implemented at the hospital, with a total budget of 4.96 million euros, funded by the ESPA.
