Bishop Tychikos Hospitalized in Athens

Former Metropolitan of Paphos, Tychikos, is hospitalized in an Athens hospital. According to a video posted by his spiritual advisor and physician, Father Evangelos Papanikolaou, Tychikos was initially hospitalized at Onaseio and then transferred to another hospital.

Father Evangelos stated that Tychikos was ill before his visit to Constantinople for the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, despite medical advice against it.

The Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus and Archbishop Georgios received no official notification regarding Bishop Tychikos' illness. The Press Representative of the Archdiocese of Cyprus, Christakis Efstathiou, stated that Tychikos should have informed them about his health condition.

The Holy Synod is awaiting a week to assess the progress of Bishop Tychikos' health. Archbishop Georgios also expects Tychikos to sign the confession of faith and to denounce the 'apotichismenous' (those who have separated themselves from the Church) in writing.
