Greek Intelligence Activates 'Desert Scorpion' at US Bases in Greece

Following the escalation in the Middle East and the arrest of a spy in Souda Bay, the Greek Intelligence Service (EYP) is activating the 'Desert Scorpion' plan at all US bases in Greece.
Undercover EYP agents, disguised as tourists and employees, are gathering information around critical military infrastructure, such as the naval base in Souda Bay and the base in Alexandroupolis.
The plan aims to prevent espionage activities and attacks. Checks are being carried out in hotels and tourist accommodation for suspicious stays, while similar information networks have been developed in Larissa and Stefanovikeio.
In recent months, four people have been arrested for espionage in Crete and Evros.
