G. Gerapetritis from Rhodes: "Priority is the defensive shielding of the islands"

Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, speaking from Rhodes, reiterated Greece's priority in defensive shielding of the islands. The statement was made during an event for the 78th anniversary of the Incorporation of the Dodecanese into Greece.

Mr. Gerapetritis referred to the historical significance of the Dodecanese and their role on the national and geopolitical map of the country, especially amidst current developments in the Middle East. He also stressed the need to strengthen Cyprus, calling it a "debt of brother to brother."

The event, organized by the South Aegean Region, was attended by, among others, the Regional Governor of South Aegean Giorgos Chatzimarkos, the Mayor of Rhodes Al. Koliadis, and members of parliament.
