Foreign Minister Giorgos Geraperitis assured that the Souda base is not under immediate threat and announced the continuation of repatriation operations of Greek citizens from the Middle East.

Speaking to SKAI, Mr. Geraperitis stressed that repatriation operations will continue daily from the Emirates, Kuwait, Oman and other areas.

Referring to the military presence of Greece in Cyprus, the Foreign Minister noted that the deployment of the frigates "Kimon" and "Psara" and the F-16 Viper fighters constitutes a "historic duty" and is purely defensive support.

Mr. Geraperitis rejected Turkey's reactions regarding the installation of Patriot systems in Karpathos, speaking of "absolutely unfounded claims."

Commenting on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, he underlined the importance of freedom of navigation and warned that a de facto closure of the Strait would be a "huge issue" for the global economy.

He also criticized the stance of the European Union, noting that "solidarity has become a quest in Europe."
