Georgiadis: 5,000 Permanent Hires in the NHS in 2026

The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, announced the hiring of 5,000 permanent employees in the National Health System (NHS) in 2026. The statement was made during an interview on ERTnews.

Mr. Georgiadis emphasized that personnel is a priority over infrastructure, but both are important. He also referred to the renewal of contracts for auxiliary doctors and nurses, assuring that they will remain in the NHS as long as he is minister.

Regarding the party expected to be announced by Maria Karistianou, the minister stated that he expected this move and that Ms. Karistianou will now have to present her political positions on other issues besides Tempi.

Finally, Mr. Georgiadis referred to the issue of blood sugar test strips for diabetics, saying that EOPYY will provide a free package of strips per month.
