Sources close to Yannis Kefalogiannis claim that there is no illegal act or damage to the State and the EU regarding OPEKEPE. The claims are based on two conversations between a former associate of Mr. Kefalogiannis and the then president of OPEKEPE.

According to the same sources, there is no direct or indirect reference to an order or direction from Mr. Kefalogiannis. It is noted that, despite the conversations, OPEKEPE followed the prescribed administrative actions.

Furthermore, it is emphasized that the non-collection of unduly paid amounts is due to administrative reasons of OPEKEPE and not to extra-institutional intervention. Experienced lawyers emphasize that even if the conversations had not taken place, OPEKEPE should have followed the same actions.

In conclusion, Mr. Kefalogiannis's circle claims that no illegal act or omission arises, and consequently, no damage to the Greek State and the EU.
