Livanios: Electronic Voting for 2028 Local Elections

The Minister of Interior, Theodoros Livanios, announced the preparation for the implementation of electronic voting in the 2028 local elections. The aim is to increase participation in the electoral process.
Mr. Livanios stated that postal voting, which was implemented in the recent European elections, went smoothly and will also be implemented in the next national elections, resolving mobility issues.
Regarding electronic voting, the minister explained that the possibility of citizens moving within the municipality to vote at any polling station, regardless of where they are registered, is being considered. Identification will be done by a judicial representative, and the vote will be recorded via tablet in a booth. For example, a citizen from Agia Paraskevi will be able to vote for the municipality of Alexandroupolis.
The government's goal is to implement all available tools to enhance participation in elections.
