Marinakis: Democracy Protects Protests, Not Racism

Government Spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis stated that democracy protects protests, but not racism. He referred to demonstrations in support of civilians in Palestine, noting that there is a 'red line' when protests turn into racist attacks.
Mr. Marinakis emphasized that it is one thing to ask for 'freedom for Palestine' and another to tell a person that they are not welcome in a country because they come from Israel and are Jewish. He described those who do the latter as fascists, adding that unfortunately many of them are also in Parliament.
He also referred to an incident in Syros, which he called an unfortunate day, stressing that the rule is what happened in Rhodes, where the law was applied. He stated that the government will protect every demonstration as defined by the Constitution, but also every citizen who wants to come to the country, regardless of their nationality or religion.
