Mitsotakis: «Greece does not negotiate the deployment of its defense forces»

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, after the Summit, stressed that Greece does not negotiate with anyone the deployment of its defense forces. He referred to the impact of conflicts on energy and the importance of the mutual defense clause for Cyprus.
Mitsotakis emphasized the need for flexibility in taking national and European measures to address the economic impact of rising energy prices. He also highlighted the initiative of Greece and France for a moratorium that would exclude attacks on energy facilities in Iran and the Gulf.
Regarding the Patriot systems in Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister recalled that they have been there since 2021 and are part of a strategy to protect critical infrastructure. Regarding Turkey's reactions, Mitsotakis stated that its claims are legally unfounded.
In closing, the Prime Minister referred to the need for a European strategy to address the energy shock and reiterated that Greece protects its borders on the Evros.
