Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that the safety of Greek citizens in the Middle East is a top priority. He made this statement following recent developments in the region and his contacts with leaders from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Cyprus.

According to his post on social media, Mr. Mitsotakis stressed that Greece is closely monitoring developments in Iran and the wider region, which affect international and regional stability. He also mentioned that he is continuing contacts with regional leaders for coordination and exchange of assessments.

The Prime Minister pointed out that all mechanisms of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been activated to protect and support Greek citizens in the region, while Greece is in constant coordination with allies and partners. The goal remains to ensure freedom of navigation and maintain stability in the wider region.

Referring to the anniversary of the Tempi train accident, Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his support to the families of the victims and stressed the need for full clarification of the case and accountability. The trial starting on March 23 is a crucial institutional step, he said.
