OPEKEPE: Asset Freezes in Scandal Investigation
Share on:

Asset freezes are commencing for those involved in the OPEKEPE scandal, following illegal subsidies. Approximately 1,000 tax identification numbers (AFM) are under investigation by the 'Greek FBI' for unduly paid amounts.

The Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, stated that the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime is handling the recovery of subsidies. However, the asset freezing process is expected to be lengthy, with potential appeals.

The investigation begins with 'zeroed AFMs'. It is reminded that the Single-Member Misdemeanor Court of Athens convicted 13 individuals in the case of illegal subsidies through OPEKEPE in Fthiotida.
