Politico: Mitsotakis Blocks Investigation into OPEKEPE Scandal

Politico reports that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is using his parliamentary majority to prevent a full investigation into ministers regarding the scandal at OPEKEPE.
According to the report, ministers and senior government officials are suspected of complicity in an agricultural subsidy fraud, aimed at defrauding the European Union of hundreds of millions of euros.
Politico emphasizes that the Mitsotakis government, through the parliamentary majority of ND, has chosen not to investigate its own members, despite suspicions raised by European prosecutors.
The report refers to an EPPO file describing a "criminal organization" consisting of OPEKEPE officials and others who illegally received agricultural subsidies.
The government allegedly acted only after the scandal was revealed, while the EPPO points out that the same group of suspects could continue their activities.
