Fire Department Report: No "Fireball" in Tempi Train Crash

The Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (DAEE) has concluded that there was no "fireball" in Tempi, refuting conspiracy theories regarding the causes of the deadly train collision in February 2023. According to the report, the second electric locomotive of the freight train had distortions due to the collision, but no traces of combustion or other alterations from fire.
The DAEE report also contradicts the report of the National Organization for the Investigation of Air and Rail Accidents and Transport Safety (EODASAAΜ), which indicated the existence of an illegal explosive charge in the electric locomotive.
Following the delivery of the DAEE report, the final analyses from the General Chemical State Laboratory are awaited to complete the investigation. At the same time, the criminal prosecution of the former Minister of Transport, Κώστας Αχ. Καραμανλής, will be judged.
The DAEE, in collaboration with the Chemical Service of Larissa and judicial experts, conducted an autopsy in Koulouri in March, where it concluded that there is no evidence of combustion.
In addition, an expert opinion from a professor of metallurgist-metallurgical engineer of the National Technical University of Athens concluded that the alterations in the cabin were the result of collision and not explosion.
