A scandal regarding the management of EU funds at OPEKEPE (Hellenic Paying Authority of Common Agricultural Policy Aid Schemes) has led to the resignation of government officials in Greece. The European Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the management of funds allocated by the EU.
Following the referral of the case file to the Hellenic Parliament, Ministers Makis Voridis (Migration), Takis Chatzivasileiou (Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs), Dionysis Stamenitis (Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food) and Christos Boukoros (Deputy Minister of Digital Governance) resigned.
The case is being investigated by the Justice system, and defenses from those involved are expected in Parliament and the courts.
