Woman Arrested for Protesting at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

A woman was arrested after protesting at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Athens. The woman had previously been detained by authorities but was subsequently arrested under the new Law 5240/2025.
According to the law, the use of the space in front of the monument is prohibited for any purpose other than visiting and highlighting its significance. Any alteration of the space and the holding of public gatherings are also prohibited.
The woman was reportedly participating in a protest following a call by Panos Routsi, the father of a victim of the Tempi train tragedy, who had staged a hunger strike outside the Parliament.
The arrested woman faces imprisonment of up to one year or a fine.
