Plevris-Koutsolambros Agreement on New Migration Pact

The Minister of Migration and Asylum, Thanos Plevris, and the president of the Plenary of the Bar Associations of Greece, Andreas Koutsolambros, have agreed on the participation of lawyers in providing legal counseling during the implementation of the new asylum procedure.

According to an announcement by the Athens Bar Association (DSA), the meeting took place in a "particularly substantial climate" and focused on the participation of lawyers in providing legal counseling at the first instance, during the implementation of the new pact on migration and asylum (article 48 of law 5275/2026).

The two sides exchanged views on the "open and substantial contribution of the legal profession to the implementation of the asylum procedure from June 12 of this year" and agreed to finalize the details soon.

The meeting was also attended by the Secretary General of Migration Policy Konstantina Papakosta, DSA advisor Chrysoula Marinaki, and the Secretary General of the Union of Salaried Lawyers Olympia Panagiotopoulou.
