Tempi Train Crash: Nine Questions Arise After Investigation Concludes

After 30 months, the investigation by examining magistrate Mr. Sotiris Bakaimis into the Tempi train crash, which claimed the lives of 58 people on February 28, 2023, has concluded. The investigation leaves behind nine key questions.

The main issues that arise are:

• The origin of the deadly fireball remains unclear, despite 20 expert reports.
• There is confusion regarding the conclusions about the causes of the explosion, with conflicting opinions from experts.
• Critical parts of the trains were not examined, such as the passenger train's transformer.
• No answers were provided by the General Chemical State Laboratory (GCK) for samples sent.
• The autopsy at the wreckage transport site was delayed by two years, making the findings unreliable.
• Questions arise regarding the sudden deposition of the outgoing President of EODASAAAM, Mr. Christos Papadimitriou.

In addition, issues arise regarding the communication management of the case and the "covering up" operation of the tragedy site.
