University of Nicosia to Open Branch in Athens

The University of Nicosia has received a license to establish and operate a branch in Athens, scheduled to open in the academic year 2025-2026. It will operate as a non-state university under the legal form of a Legal Entity of University Education (N.P.P.E.), named NΠΠΕ: UNIC ATHENS Legal Entity of University Education.
According to an announcement by the Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports, the approval covers the following schools: School of Medicine, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Business Administration, School of Sciences and Engineering, School of Life and Health Sciences, and School of Law.
The approval for the University of Nicosia is one of four license approvals granted by the relevant Greek Ministry. The other institutions are The Open University, The University of YORK, and The University of Keele.
The evaluation process was based on strict specifications set by the ΕΘ.Α.Α.Ε. (National Authority for Higher Education), while the Ε.Ο.Π.Π.Ε.Π. (National Organisation for the Certification of Qualifications & Vocational Guidance) focused on the technical and building specifications of the facilities.
The Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports, Sofia Zacharaki, stated that the National Authority for Higher Education (ΕΘ.Α.Α.Ε.) approved the applications, which meet the strict requirements set by law.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Nikos Papaioannou, mentioned that Greece is turning a new page in Higher Education.
