Tsiaras: Over 49,000 Fake Certificates at OPEKEPE

The Minister of Rural Development and Food, Kostas Tsiaras, revealed that over 49,000 fake certificates were detected at OPEKEPE following inspections of ecological schemes.

According to Mr. Tsiaras, approximately 30,000 producers are involved in the case. The inspections also showed a mass exodus from organic programs, with over 2,000 withdrawals from organic livestock farming and beekeeping, and another 2,000 from organic farming.

The minister also mentioned cases of beneficiaries who "disappear" after an inspection is scheduled, emphasizing the government's responsibility to address the problem.

Mr. Tsiaras also commented on the opposition's stance in Parliament, stressing the need for a unified message to society regarding the case.
