The Minister of Rural Development, Kostas Tsiaras, described the OPEKEPE case as highly problematic before the parliamentary inquiry committee. He announced stricter controls and close cooperation with the EU and the European Public Prosecutor's Office for the disbursement of €1 billion to farmers.

Mr. Tsiaras emphasized cooperation with the European Commission for Agriculture to address structural problems and the transition to the digital age. He also referred to cooperation with the European Public Prosecutor's Office.

The minister referred to the resignation of the former president of OPEKEPE, Nikos Salatas, due to disagreement on cooperation with the European Public Prosecutor's Office, as well as the resignation of Vice President I. Kaimakamis for reasons of integrity.

Mr. Tsiaras stressed that all complaints are forwarded to the judiciary and an order has been given to tighten controls, with intensified controls revealing fake certificates and excessive numbers in organic farming.

The Ministry's goal is transparency and support for honest farmers.
