Parliament to Decide on Inquiry or Preliminary Investigation for OPEKEPE

The Parliament is called upon to decide on the establishment of an Inquiry or Preliminary Investigation Committee regarding OPEKEPE, amidst intense political disputes.

New Democracy proposes an Inquiry Committee to identify weaknesses in the agricultural subsidy system. In contrast, PASOK and SYRIZA are requesting a Preliminary Investigation for former ministers Makis Voridis and Lefteris Avgenakis, following the European Public Prosecutor's Office case file.

According to reports, ND may call on PASOK and SYRIZA to withdraw their proposals for a Preliminary Investigation. Kyriakos Mitsotakis has called on the parties to participate in the Inquiry.

The Plenary of the Parliament will discuss ND's proposal for an Inquiry, while the next day, the opposition's proposals for a Preliminary Investigation will be discussed.

ND aims to streamline the agricultural subsidy system. The statements of Mr. Voridis and Mr. Avgenakis are awaited.
