The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has responded to allegations regarding a personal data leak during the repatriation operation of Greek citizens from the Middle East. According to the MFA, in one of the emails sent to coordinate repatriation flights, the recipients' email addresses were inadvertently made visible.

In its statement, the Ministry emphasizes that there was no intentional leak of personal data. It is noted that MFA employees have been working tirelessly since February 28, with the Cryptographic Service operating on a 24-hour basis to ensure repatriation.

The MFA assures that it attaches particular importance to the protection of personal data and will take the necessary actions. At the same time, it expresses its dissatisfaction with the targeting of employees working under adverse conditions.

The statement emphasizes that the repatriation operation is the largest ever carried out from multiple war zones, with the Cryptographic Service having made more than 3,000 telephone calls and received over 1,500 emails in the last 24 hours alone.
