Ministry of Education: Recommendations for foreign universities next week

The Ministry of Education expects recommendations next week regarding foreign universities wishing to establish branches in Greece. According to statements, those that receive a license will begin operating by early October.
Currently, the files of twelve university institutions are being evaluated by ETHAAE and EOPEPP. The Deputy Minister of Education, Nikos Papaioannou, stated that the parent institutions are receiving establishment and operation licenses, while the evaluation of study programs will take place in August or early September.
Mr. Papaioannou also referred to the Panhellenic examinations and the proposal for a new university admission system, emphasizing that the current system, although transparent, tests the future of children in a few hours of exams. The Minister of Education, Sofia Zaharaki, has announced that in the long term there will be a change in the admission system, with the creation of a special committee.
Finally, the Deputy Minister noted that students today are more informed about schools and study programs, and their choices are multifactorial, taking into account professional rehabilitation, geographic location, and the study program.
