Zelenskyy in Athens for Gas Transfer Agreement with Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Athens, where he is expected to meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximos Mansion. Prior to that, he met with President of the Hellenic Republic Konstantinos Tasoulas at the Presidential Palace.
According to an announcement, the meeting of the two leaders will be followed by statements to the press and an expanded meeting of the delegations of the two sides.
Energy is the central theme of the discussions, with emphasis on the vertical corridor for the transfer of natural gas from Alexandroupolis to Ukraine, via Romania and Moldova. Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis stated that an agreement will be signed between Greek and Ukrainian companies for the transfer of gas from Greece to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will import natural gas from Greece to cover its winter needs, securing almost 2 billion euros to counter Russian attacks on domestic production.
