A statue of Bridget Jones has been unveiled in Leicester Square, London, 25 years after the release of the first film. Renée Zellweger, who played Bridget in all four movies, attended the event.

The statue depicts Bridget wearing a mini skirt, holding a pen and a diary. Helen Fielding, the author of the character, said she was proud of Bridget Jones' long-standing popularity.

The first film, 'Bridget Jones's Diary', was released in 2001, starring Hugh Grant and Colin Firth alongside Zellweger.
