Alekos Syssovitis: 'I owe my career to Giorgos Panousopoulos'

Actor Alekos Syssovitis spoke about Giorgos Panousopoulos, the director who recently passed away at the age of 84, emphasizing that he owes his career to him. In an interview on the show 'Studio 4,' Syssovitis recalled his meeting with Panousopoulos and their collaboration on the film 'Free Diving'.
'I owe my career to him, it was my first job,' the actor stated. He also described how Makis Gazis discovered him and brought him into contact with the director. Syssovitis was initially working in construction in Mykonos, having given up modeling.
Referring to the film's poster, with his hands on Karyofyllia Karabeti's back, Syssovitis said he was surprised by Panousopoulos's choice. 'I asked him why he chose my hands. He tells me 'When we met and shook hands, you had my father's handshake.' That moved me. We were very good friends, we had become brothers,' he added.
