Romania's Eurovision entry, titled "Choke Me," has sparked controversy due to allegations that it glorifies sexual strangulation. Organizations and activists argue that the song "plays dangerously with the lives of young women."

The song, performed by Alexandra Căpitanescu, features repeated lyrics such as "choke me." Clare McGlynn, a law professor, stated that the message shows an "alarming disregard for the health and well-being of young women."

Many Eurovision fans are calling for the song's disqualification or a change in lyrics. A Romanian representative defended the song, claiming the lyrics are metaphorical, describing the feeling of being overwhelmed by emotions.

A Norwegian YouTuber and psychologist commented that the Romanian entry uses a practice banned in UK pornography to deliberately provoke reactions.

Research indicates that many young people have experienced strangulation during sexual encounters, and many falsely believe there are safe ways to do it.
