Desi G: 'I wanted to create a song reminiscent of love and passion'

Desi G qualified for the national final of Eurovision with the song 'Aphrodite' and spoke about her inspiration.
In an interview, Desi G stated she was thrilled about her qualification. She explained that with her song she wanted to highlight love and passion, which she believes are missing from her generation.
'My generation lacks love and passion, and I wanted to create a song that would remind them of it. And what better way to talk about love than through Aphrodite, who was the goddess of love?' she stated.
Desi G also described the moment she found out about her qualification: 'I was sleeping and my mom came into my room and said, 'Hey Despoula, wake up!'. And I said to her, 'What do you want, Mom, what's going on?'. She says, 'ERT is on the phone!''
Referring to her relationship with Greece, the singer said: 'My mom and dad are from Greece. My mom is from Skopelos and my dad is from Alonissos... I grew up with my family from Greece... I always choose Greece'.
