Helen Mirren: James Bond Must Be a Man

Helen Mirren, despite identifying as a feminist, believes that the role of James Bond should be played by a male actor. In an interview with "Saga" magazine, the Oscar-winning actress stated that "James Bond has to be a man. It just doesn't work as a woman. It just doesn't."

Amazon MGM Studios will produce the new film in the spy series, with Steven Knight, creator of "Peaky Blinders," writing the script. The production company plans a "fresh" version of the film series, while maintaining the character's legacy.

Other actors have also expressed opposition to the idea of a woman in the role of Bond. Halle Berry, co-star of Pierce Brosnan in the film "Die Another Day," stated that she wasn't sure a woman in the role was the right thing.

Among the frontrunners for the role of Agent 007 are Aaron Taylor-Johnson and James Norton.

Mirren stars in the mystery film "The Thursday Murder Club" alongside Pierce Brosnan, who agrees that the role should remain male.
