Giannis Vardis: "I Re-Introduced Myself to My Father at 18"

Giannis Vardis spoke about his relationship with his father, Antonis Vardis, revealing that they became close when he was 18 years old. He said that his mother remarried in America, and he chose to live with his father, with whom he had no real contact until then.

"We got close around the age of 18. My mother left for America, remarried, and the options were not many. 'Either you come with me to America or you stay with dad' were the options. I chose my father, and that's where we re-introduced ourselves," he said.

Giannis Vardis confessed that the first years of their cohabitation were difficult, as Antonis Vardis did not know how to function as a father. Antonis Vardis passed away on September 2, 2014, at the age of 66, after a battle with cancer.
